Robotics is important because it is making life easier for many people. Robotics also Some of the areas where Robotics is the most important is in Education and Medicine.
Robots in Education
Robotics in education is very beneficial. Many schools offer Robotics as a class. This helps students be creative and find out what they want to do as a living. This also allows kids to think in a creative and logical way rather than in a way that they normally think rather than the way that kids think in a normal everday class. This also allows schools to be ahead of the game when it comes to learning standards.
A brief history of Robotics in Medicine
1.In
1985 a robot, The PUMA 560, was used to place a needle for a
brain biopsy using CT guidance. Three years later it was used to
perform a transurethral resection.
2.In 1987 robotics was used in the
first Laparoscopic surgery. 3. In 1988, The PROBOT,
developed at Imperial College London, was used to perform prostatic surgery. 4. The ROBODOC from Integrated Surgical Systems was introduced
in 1992 to make the correct measurement for a femur for hip replacement.
5. More development of robots with the AESOP
and ZEUS Robotic Surgical Systems and with the introduction of The da Vinci Surgical System.
Some of the Benefits of robotics in medicine
1.The goal of using robots in medicine is to provide improved
diagnostic abilities, more comfortable experience for the
patient, and the ability to do smaller and more precise surgeries.
2. Robots are currently used for these surgeries: prostate surgery,
for hysterectomies, the removal of fibroids, joint replacements, open-heart
surgery and kidney surgeries. They can be used along with MRIs to do organ
biopsies. Since the physician can see images of the patient and control the
robot through a computer, he/she does not need to be in the room, or even at
the same location as the patient.
This means that a specialist can operate on a patient
who is very far away without either of them having to travel. It can also take away some of the stress of long surgeries.
